North Highlands Highlight

Forsinard RSPB Reserve

find accomodation in this area

Forsinard RSPB Reserve is open at all times. It has a flagstone trail which winds through the moor past lochans and peat bog. The Visitor centre in the railway station is open from April to October and has audiovisuals and live nest watch displays. Guided walks are regularly available. There are many roadside viewing sites.

Forsinard to Helmsdale is about 24 miles via Kinbrace and the Strath of Kildonan in East Sutherland. A circular route of Strath Halladale and Strathnaver via Kinbrace makes a very interesting day trip. Helmsdale is about 15 miles to the southeast of Kinbrace via the Strath of Kildonan and Strath Ullie.
