Falls of Kirkaig

Falls of Kirkaig A path follows the river eastwards from here to the Falls of Kirkaig (about 2 miles) through a woodland of Rowan, Hazel and Aspen. The falls themselves are only 18m high, but after rain, they can be quite dramatic. in spring and early summer Salmon may be seen attempting to leap the falls, but they cannot pass here.

This walk may afford views of Dippers and Grey Wagtails on the river, while Pine Marten live in the woods. The path leads on to the Fionn Loch for wonderful views of Suilven. By continuing round the north side of the loch for another 3 miles, the southern approach to the mountain is reached. Waders such as Dunlin, Redshank and Greenshank breed on the moors and loch sides. Red and Black-throated Divers breed on the lochs and may be seen flying in with fish to feed their young. Particularly during the breeding season, the adults may be heard calling.
